How BITS compares to other MSPs

See how BITS stacks up against typical MSP providers

Most MSP comparisons hide the things that matter

Any MSP can claim 24/7 support, ISO certification, and a Microsoft partnership. The questions that actually separate providers are different: who answers at 2am and where are they sitting, whose industry has the provider actually done before, and whose name is on the line when something goes wrong.

This page is how BITS answers those questions. If another provider can give you the same answers in writing, they are genuinely comparable. Most cannot.

BITS vs the typical Australian MSP

Seven things we think a buyer should check before signing with any MSP, including us. For each row, there’s a question you can ask any provider on the table. Their answers will tell you more than their marketing.

What to check
BITS
Question to ask any MSP
Ownership

Australian owned and operated. Founder-led since 2010, no offshore private equity, no overseas parent.

Decisions about your service are made in Australia by people accountable to Australian clients.

Who owns the business?

Where do profits flow?

Has the ownership changed in the last three years?

Security
posture

ISO 27001 certified through JAS-ANZ. SMB1001 Diamond certified. ACSC Network Partner.

Every BITS cybersecurity plan is aligned to an external, certifiable standard — not a vendor stack dressed up as strategy. We work to the framework that fits your obligations: ISO 27001, SOC 2, NIST CSF, or Essential Eight ML1/ML2. SMB1001 is our strong default when no specific framework is mandated.

Under SMB1001, an MSP can only certify clients to the tier the MSP itself holds. Your MSP is your ceiling. If you want Diamond, your MSP needs Diamond.

What frameworks can you actually deliver against, and where's the evidence?

Is your cybersecurity offering aligned to a defined standard, or is it your own list of tools?

Industry
experience

Specialised in health and health-adjacent, financial services, legal, professional services, ACE (Architecture, Construction and Engineering), and not-for-profit.

Strong track record with aggregator and M&A operators consolidating IT across acquired businesses. Not a generalist spread thin.

Name three clients in my industry and tell me what's specific about supporting them.

How many of your clients look like my business?

Delivery
model

Lean and adaptable by design. Automation and documented processes handle the repetitive work so engineers focus on the things that matter.

Where AI touches your experience directly — handling your calls, responding to your tickets, answering your people — we tell you in advance, and you decide. No silent swap-outs of your support for an AI answering service.

How many tickets does each engineer handle per week?

Where are you using AI in client-facing work, and did you tell existing clients before you rolled it out?

Problem
ownership

When something breaks, we own it end to end — even when the problem sits with a third-party vendor. Your internet, your line-of-business application, your phone system, your printer: call us first and we drive it to resolution.

Named Client Success and Service Delivery Managers, not a pooled queue. You get one point of contact, not a round-robin of blame.

If my software vendor and my hardware vendor blame each other, who owns the fix?

Do I get named people, or whoever picks up the ticket? Do you bill for vendor liaison time?

Technology
adoption

We build internally to solve real delivery problems — automation, monitoring, AI-assisted workflows, integrations between the platforms we rely on. Tooling we prove out on ourselves gets offered to clients.

Most MSPs wait for vendors to ship features. We ship our own where it matters and pass the learning through. Your technology posture benefits from what we learn running our own.

What has your MSP built or deployed for your own business in the last 12 months that wasn't just an off-the-shelf vendor upgrade?

How does that learning reach my business?

Commercial
transparency

MSA available for review before proposal. No selective surcharging.

Support is unlimited per user, including moves, adds and changes: no metered bills, no nickel-and-diming. Term contracts include a defined early-exit matrix, so if the relationship isn't working you have a clear way out rather than being locked in indefinitely.

Send me your MSA before the proposal. Are moves, adds and changes billed separately?

If I need to exit early, what are the exact charges and where are they written?
